The way sunlight hits the mountains, the soft breeze across the creek, the night sky awash with millions of stars: all this is Alpine Falls Ranch.

Choose this rugged backdrop as your private stage for pampered romance, genuine adventure, and casual cool. Here, sumptuous accommodations, hearty food and spirited libations work in harmony with the land and, of course, the big sky.

Our style of hospitality is to follow your lead: You decide if you'd like to get hands-on with our frontier traditions or simply relax completely in one of the world's most special places.

Our guides can put you in a butter-soft saddle, with an arrow between your fingers, a fly rod over your shoulder and more. There are endless things to do and some rather special hiking trails, too.

As the sun dips behind Sheep Mountain, folks come down to the saloon and let the fireplace do its magic.

Beware, once you have boots on the ground, you'll soon call Alpine Falls your ranch, as our reviews attest.

Ranch History

Alpine Falls Ranch was established in 2020 and is recently converted from a private ranch to a guest ranch. The entire area around Alpine Falls has a long history and was originally one massive ranch, having long ago been split into multiple properties. Over the years, the land has seen cattle ranching, horse ranching, goat and sheep ranching, hay farming, and even some light mining activity. Today, Alpine Falls is a much quieter, more serene environment with much of that land now available for guest use with the same amazing views and open meadows that it has always had.

Your Manager, Jason Pittman

Jason Pittman, Alpine Falls Ranch's Ranch Manager, is a guest favorite, attending to not only the continued operation of the ranch and its facilities, but focusing on ensuring that our guests have a 5-star experience each and every time they visit. Jason is a retired US Army veteran with experience in project management, technology, and a vast array of hands-on and technical operations. Hailing from the Virginia countryside, he also has a background in farming and animal care, with many of his animals stabled at Alpine Falls. In addition to serving as Ranch Manager, Jason is a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) and works with guests for hunting, shooting and servicing firearms.

Why our riding stands out

  • Alpine Falls Ranch riding is provided by local guides that know the Western Montana area exceptionally well. We can accommodate riders of all ages and skill levels, and riding trips must be pre-arranged to ensure availability of horses, guides and equipment. We welcome guests that have their own horses and can provide stabling for them in our stables and fields; please let our ranch manager know ahead of time if you plan to bring your horses with you for your visit.
  • The natural landscape at Alpine Falls Ranch and the surrounding area features many different terrains including fields, trails, hills and mountainous regions, all available for riding excursions. The beauty of Western Montana is uniquely captured through an authentic Western ride on our 800+ acre ranch, or in many of the surrounding areas.
  • Alpine Falls Ranch also borders the Lolo National Forest, a sprawling and pristine 2,000,000+ acre expanse that is open to horseback riding (please see National Forest guidelines on horseback riding for rules, laws and other details).
